Don't Move It - Extend It

Don’t move that face, extend it! This is one of those tools that sets Bonzai apart from it’s competition and makes it even easier to use. Once you know where to find this tool and you see a few examples of how it works, you’ll wonder how you lived without it for so long.

Good evening sir, excellent tip, and very good way to explain, besides Extend tool, I have learned too much other things ... Thank you very much

There is something that want to ask about, how can you use '' Rotate View Angle '' by using the mouse only ( like in sketchup )
I will be very happy if you answer me

    Hi InterArchi,

I use the mouse. If you go to the Edit menu, and choose Key Shortcuts... towards the lower right there is a button called Load Defaults. In there, you can choose from some navigation presets. By default, you can orbit by holding down the control key and clicking with the right mouse button. Panning is done with the middle mouse button.

I prefer to load Preset 2 because then the mouse navigation behaves exactly like SketchUp, which I also use quite a bit. It allows you to use the middle mouse button for Orbiting and add the Shift key along with the middle mouse button to Pan.

If you aren't using a mouse, which you really should be if you are doing 3d modeling because of these navigation benefits alone, you can setup keyboard shortcuts for the Orbit and Pan commands to be whatever you like. In the Key Shortcuts dialog box, in the lefthand column called Categories, scroll down and select View>Navigation Tools. In the right column you will see various commands. Select "Hand" and then click the "Add" button below it, and type whatever shortcut you'd like. Then do the same for "Swivel" and you're all set!

    Thanks for the comment,

    Evan

    thank you
i was on the bonzai3d Beta.
i got you bookmarked because i like your video's there very clear and you know what your talking about and can navigate the app pretty good.

i would like to see the best way to use the stream line tool because it can make points equal distances apart and i would like to rap a line around the arm a few times,
i guess you could snap to the arm points but if the arm mesh is all messy the line will not be a smooth rap around the arm
    thank

HI Evan, recently found your site and videos/tutorials. Very informative and a pleasure to watch. One question re the extend tool with bonzai3d. Is it true that once you have used the extend tool on an object, you no longer can edit it with the controls (height, thickness etc) or am I missing a step.
